Sri Yogeendrateertharu – ಶ್ರೀ ಯೋಗೀಂದ್ರತೀರ್ಥರು

Sri Yogeendra theertha is 17th Saint from Sri Madhwacharya and comes in the moola prampare of Hamsanamaka paramatma.

Three of his poorvashrama elder brother’s grandsons were well-known among Raghavendrateerthara followers. Since Venkannacharya was the most deserving of them all, Sri Gururajaru gave him sanyasa and named him Yogeendra Theertha. The next two pupils to adorn the peetha were Vasudevacharya and Mudduvenkatakrishnacharya. They are respectively called as Sri Sooreendra Theertha and Sri Sumatheendra Theertha. Yogeendra teertharu was a brilliant and distinguished scholar. The fact that Venkannapant had given him a second conveyance of the village Mantralaya has previously been mentioned.

Yogeendra teertharu performed the necessary preparations for the regular Brindavan poojas after his gurugalu brundavana pravesha, stayed there for a while, and then travelled across south India on a digvijaya & siddantha prachara. He defeated Kakashastri and others in debates at been cited earlier that Venkannapant had reconveyed the village Mantralaya to him.

Swamiji headed towards Southern region, He arrived in Srirangam subsequent to receiving the darshan of Sri Vijayeendra swamiji in Kumbhakonam. The Nayaks of Madurai were in charge of Srirangam pilgrimage during that time. At that time, Muddalagadrinayaka, the grandson of Thirumalanayaka and son of Vishwanathanayaka, was the ruler of Madurai. In accordance with the custom of respect his forefathers held Mahasamsthana. On the most sacred day of Akshaya Thritheeya in Siddharthi Samvatsara (1679), he gifted a village called “Arambhanna” to Lord Krishna, following in the tradition of reverence his ancestors had for Mahasamsthana. The village is located on the banks of the Tamraparni and Kalla Mutt, west of Chitra street in Srirangam.

Yogeendra theertha settled down in the most sacred site at Srirangam, and entered brindavana on the tenth day of Magha Shuddha in Vibhava Samvatsara after handing over the peetha to Sri Sooreendra Theertha.

राघवेंद्रकुमाराय नमो योगींद्रयोगिने ||


సాంద్రబోధాయ శాస్త్రేషు నిస్తంద్రమనసే హరౌ |
రాఘవేంద్రకుమారాయ నమో యోగీంద్రయోగినే ||


ஸாம்த்ரபோதாய ஶாஸ்த்ரேஷு நிஸ்தம்த்ரமநஸே ஹரௌ |
